Male Menopause Symptoms

Most men have many questions regarding the symptoms of male menopause.  They want to know if they will still enjoy sex and still be able to continue to perform in the bedroom.  Many men in their 40’s and 50’s might notice that things are a little different and might have concerns.

Erectile dysfunction is one of the most recognized symptoms of male menopause and approximately 30 million men in America have or do suffer from this.  When combined with other symptoms, millions of men in their forties and older might need some form of treatment.

Some of the symptoms of male menopause:

Declining Sex Drive- He will have less interest in sex, will have it less frequently, much less than when he was in his 20’s.  A man in his 50’s has sex about one a week and a man in his late seventies has sex about 1 to 2 times a month.  Sex can actually become less enjoyable for a man in menopause as he gets older.

Inability to Concentrate and Forgetfulness- It can become difficult to focus and a change in the ability to remember in male menopause

Depression, Anxiety, Depression and Irritability- Things that were easier to handle when younger, now seem to be more difficult to deal with, when having male menopause symptoms.

Poor Sleep- The body needs deep sleep for the body to repair itself, but in male menopause, it can be difficult to fall asleep and sleep well.  Before awakening, the last part of his sleep can seem restless.  Serious consequences can occur when you aren’t getting enough quality sleep.

Body Composition- Obesity is related to many health problems, but men tend to lose lean body mass, which means a loss of body muscle, and being sedentary increases the body mass percentage by 10% every ten years, after the age of 30.  Once the muscle is loss, the body increases the fat mass and then there is a tendency to become obese.

Lower Levels of Energy and Fatigue- It takes a man longer to do a physical activity in menopause than when younger and it requires more effort.

Osteoporosis- Bone mass loss for women begins in their thirties and forties and later in life for a man.

Low Self Esteem, Confusion and Indecision- Most healthy males have the ability to be efficient, competent and to be able to solve problems.  These aspects of a man seem to erode because of male menopause.  Men’s declining hormone levels can really be stressful and even cause mental and psychological problems as well as a loss of interest in sex.

Men don’t have to accept these symptoms and there are many ways to help stay active, healthy, full of energy and sexually active for many years to come.
