First Symptoms Of Menopause
How do you know if you are having the first symptoms of
menopause? Do you need to worry about all the changes you hear about? Menopause
is just the next part of life. We go through puberty, then we have periods for
centuries it seems, then we start menopause. This is a new phase that every
woman goes through, and learning about it helps tremendously.
With all this in mind, it can still be a bit
disconcerting when these symptoms start showing up. If you are prepared, you will
be less likely to panic, especially when they appear sooner than you expected.
There are some women who show their first symptoms of menopause in their
thirties.
Hormones seem to rule our life as a woman, and menopause
is no exception. The changes in our hormones are the reason these first
symptoms begin. I will list a few of these symptoms below which will give you
something to watch for, and...look forward to.
1. Interruption in menstrual cycle - your cycle will
change from the typical 28 days as well as the flow. It can become heavier or
lighter, and the timing are typically farther apart. There are also chances of
fibroid tumors developing along the uterine wall, so it is important to visit
your doctor when these changes begin.
2. Hot flashes - this is a very typical symptom and you
never know when these nasty hot flashes will hit you. You can be in a snowstorm
and have a hot flash, wanting to rip off every layer of clothing...but it would
be best to wait till you are home to do that. The worst time is when you are in
a meeting or a setting where everyone can see you, then the hot flash hits,
your face turns red, beads of sweat appear and you feel like you are going to
die.
3. Insomnia - this seems to go with the hot flashes, you
can't sleep and you are so hot that you can't get comfortable. These changes
are not fun in the least.
4. Mood swings - this is something that is troubling to
say the least, and when you add the hot flashes and insomnia to it,
well....need I say more?
If you are having any of these first symptoms of
menopause, contact your doctor, let him or her know what's going on and they
can prescribe some hormone therapy to help you get through this. It makes it
easier when you know there is someone who understands and can help you through
it.
